Don’t worry, for those of you who are not really into this extravagantly sweet wedding theme, this will be the last entry on using the 2006 movie Marie Antoinette as wedding inspiration. Phew! Okay, so we’ve seen the fancy costumes and shoes/accessories used in the Sofia Coppola movie. Today we’re talking about one of my favorite subjects – FOOD. Specifically desserts! :)
Famed French pâtisserie Ladurée created a delightful spread of millefeuilles, ispahan macarons, and other delicious-looking entremets specially for the movie. What a lovely visual feast!

Sugared almonds (Jordan almonds) in light blue, green and gold decorates this creation that is topped with Ladurée’s signature Cameo chocolate bar. Love the tray the whole ensemble is presented on!

A pretty plate of tarlets and petits fours glacés garnished with rose petals and raspberries. Yum! A pyramid of macaroons resembling a croquembouche of profiteroles was also seen in the movie. Ah! Such decadence!
The recurring theme here is pink and gold, seen in the colors used for the confections and rose petals/berries decorating the plates. But there are a couple of dishes that break the mould like this orange and cream-based platter of indulgence centering around some sort of citrus fruit déguisés or tartlet.

More gold. Is that gold leaf I see on the right plate? Wouldn’t all these creations fit perfectly in a casual bridal tea party setting?

I’ve seen a couple of candy buffets in weddings here. How about a cake buffet? I’d definitely go nuts!

Yup, “Let them eat cake!” indeed.
