A few weddings I’ve been to recently used wicker baskets of either rattan or bamboo as a base for their hantaran (wedding gifts exchange for the bride and groom). I’ve also seen woven mengkuang/pandan (screwpine leaves) or banana leaves being used as gift boxes.
Rectangular wicker trays may be suitable for the groom as it has a more masculine feel. You can easily arrange shirts, bags, fruits and laptops (the gifts people get nowadays, I want one too!) in this format. When the wedding ceremony is over, there are so many ways to reuse these trays.

Rectangular wooden trays may be suitable for the groom as it has a more masculine air:

This type more suitable for free-form arrangements. Plus I can reuse it as a cat bed. I’ve seen a couple of these in Malaysia made by disabled people from some association and they were very nicely done. Part of the proceeds from the sale goes to charity too. I can’t remember where I’ve seen them, though. Maybe my Malaysian readers can help?

I like this one.

Footed bowl, suitable for flowers.

White baskets are available too, as are a few other colours.

All these are from Target but I believe you can get rattan and mengkuang baskets easily from many shops in the region.
